My name is Jo van Berckel – founder of AbleSwim and proud mum to Kit, my brilliant son who has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. 

For over 17 years, I’ve navigated life alongside disability and spent that time discovering products that genuinely make a difference to families like ours.

Together with my husband Charles, we founded AbleStay London  – the city’s first fully accessible holiday home.  I run several thriving online communities for the disability community.

The AbleSwim ring is one of my all-time hero products. We discovered it a decade ago and it completely transformed Kit’s experience in the water – offering freedom, support and joy in ways we never imagined.

 

 

 

Why we do this

Because everyone deserves the joy and independence of water.

We’ve seen the life-changing impact this simple ring has had on Kit, and many others. Now, we want to share that freedom and joy with more individuals and families in the UK.
